Having lived in Aurora, CO for a year for work, I have been in the theater multiple times. My obvious first reaction was to check with people I knew in the area to make sure they weren’t in the slim possibility of being involved. Thankfully, none of them were. It is a little sad that it takes an event like this to really start putting things into perspective, and even sadder that the perspective rarely lasts. Colorado has dealt with this before, in the events that occurred at Columbine High School. To me it is strange that such an awesome area, with some of the nicest people I’ve met in this country, can be plagued by such horrible travesties. Via Twitter, I ran across the poster to the right, from a guy apparently trying to start a fund-raiser for the victims, which I will surely be donating to once it becomes official. Not because I want to say I donated and not because I think it’s going to prevent future tragedies, but simply because I feel it’s the right thing to do.
