Tyvis’ Corner Revisited
As many of you already know, Ohio State freshman cornerback Tyvis Powell spent the better part of his final twelve weeks of high school as a blog contributor at the former Buckeye House Call with current Empire team members Grant Edgell and Andrew Huber. Week after week we had the luxury of looking into the mind of a future Buckeye and quickly found out Tyvis was much more than just a football player.
Tyvis enrolled early and officially became an Ohio State student-athlete this past January, effectively ending his run as a Buckeye blogger. Because he’s enrolled at the university we love and has yet to participate in his first official game at The Ohio State University he remains off-limits until the season gets underway. That puts us into a “dead period” position with Tyvis as a blog, but we’ll be able to continue to get his insight on his experiences once the season gets under way in less than two weeks.
Because of his taxing schedule as a student-athlete we won’t be bringing you a continually updated “Tyvis’ Corner” type of section here at The Empire, but starting immediately after the Buckeyes do battle with Miami (OH) on September 1st we’ll have quotes and quips from Tyvis on a weekly basis as we continue to follow his Ohio State career, profiling the life of the college athlete at our favorite institution.
Until then, we’ve republished the former “Tyvis’ Corner” here at The Empire, which you’ll see up top listed as “The Corner.” That link consists of twelve weeks worth of entries from Powell to close out his high school career in late 2011. Feel free to browse back through his entries and take a quick trip down memory lane with him as we prepare to watch him officially kick off his Buckeye career just eleven short days from now.
