Ohio State commit Darron Lee

Ohio State commit Darron Lee, of New Albany High School (2-2), is a versatile athlete that will suit up for the Silver Bullet defense.  As a 2013 commit, the consensus 3* is part of an excellent recruiting class for Ohio State and Head Coach Urban Meyer.  At 6’2 and 205 lbs, Lee has a nice frame that has Buckeye fans and coaches wondering where he’ll line up in the Scarlet & Gray.

Lee plays as the FS and QB for New Albany.  He accounted for 6 TD’s last weekend and is an underrated playmaker in this class.  Lee will almost definitely line up on the defensive side of the ball for the Buckeyes, but at this point, we’re just not sure where he’ll line up because we’re not sure how big he’ll get.  He has the frame to fill out and play LB, but I seem to think he’ll play the Star Position like Jermale Hines and Tyler Moeller while they were on the Silver Bullet squad.  A big safety like this can be the mark of an elite defense.  I mean, look at Taylor Mays while at USC.  The guy was built like a LB and made WR’s hate crossing the middle.  I guess the current rules kind of take away that element since all of the receivers crossing the middle are no considered “defenseless”, but that’s a discussion for a different time.  The point is that Lee could be a very important piece for the future Buckeye defense.
