Buckeye Empire Pick ‘Em Editors Selections – Week 5

On September 25, 2012 by Buckeye Empire

The 2012 College Football season, even though just in its fifth week, has already provided the fans with a ton of excitement. We’ve seen top 5 teams tumble, TTUN climb and then fall out of the rankings, Notre Dame with an impressive resume so far, and Alabama simply blowing away the competition week in and week out. The Big Ten Conference, as a whole, looks like a empty husk of its former self, with the Buckeyes leading the way in the polls.

Take a minute to let that soak in. The Buckeyes, who are not eligible for any sort of postseason play, are the “best” team in the B1G. When you have the “top” teams in the conference losing to teams they probably shouldn’t lose to *cough*Wisconsin*cough* then it makes the entire conference look like hot buttered death. Even if the Buckeyes win out every single game, go undefeated and capture a split title from the AP, the rest of the country will simply look at our conference and say “Well, OF COURSE YOU DID! The Big Ten is horrible!”

I do not disagree.

However, it is not the point of this article to lament the downfall of a once proud conference. Here is to celebrate my ascent to the top of the Editor’s leaderboard after I went 10-1 last weekend (thanks UCONN). The race amongst the editors has closed dramatically and now just 1 game separates 1st place from 4th. Here are the standings after Week 4 of the College Football season:

T-1: Chris Holloway (25-17)

T-1: Joe Dexter (25-17)

T-4: Grant Edgell (24-18)

T-4: Ryan Lephart (24-18)

With 10 weeks left in the season, this is anyone’s contest. That said, here are this week’s picks.
