Thad Matta was doing some dirty dancing Monday! Buckeye Nation has been looking for good news on the basketball front after the Buckeyes were upset by the Wichita State Shockers on Saturday and it comes today in the form of another commit to the 2013 class. Saleh Maina from St. Joseph Prep in New York becomes the latest player to commit to Thad Matta and company.
Saleh joins a few good men in Marc Loving and Kameron Williams to give the Buckeyes three key recruits for next season. While Williams will provide a three point threat from the shooting guard position Saleh will join Marc Loving to provide some much needed skill to the front court position and give tremors to opposing teams. Saleh, while still raw, is an exceptional shot blocker with some good handles and unbelievable dunking ability. It should be fun to watch him and Sam Thompson have dunk contests in practice.
Saleh is a 6’9 power forward who is originally from Africa but was brought to St. Joseph’s by their highly acclaimed coach Jimmy Dolan who came to St. Jospeh’s via Mystic River. Here are some highlights, go to 7:05 to see Saleh dribble between an opposing players legs before going up for a ridiculous dunk:
