Early indications were that Ohio State would send out offers to 2014 quarterbacks around the mid-way point of the High School Football season. If that was indeed the case, offers should have been coming out since the playoffs are right around the corner, but that has not yet happened. I would expect a few offers to be handed out in the near future and one of the quarterbacks to keep an eye on is William Ulmer from Washington, DC.
This is a new name for Buckeye fans. Ulmer told Rivals.com just one week ago that Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach Tom Herman told him to expect an offer soon. Ulmer is a dual-threat QB and has all of the tools to fit well in an Urban Meyer offense. Throughout the first 9 games of the season, he tells me he has ran for about 1,000 yards and has thrown for about 800 yards with 17 total touchdowns.
Before we sit down with the DC product, Check out his impressive highlights.
Bret: How is your recruitment going so far?
Ulmer: It’s going very well. A lot of schools are opening the doors my way and God has favor on my life, keeping my options and eyes open.
Bret: Do you currently have any offers? If so, from which schools?
Ulmer: Yes. North Carolina, Maryland, Syracuse and Boston College.
Bret: What teams are showing interest but have not offered at this time?
Ulmer: Oregon, Ohio State, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida and Auburn.
Bret: What schools have you visited so far?
Ulmer: Boston College, Maryland, Syracuse and North Carolina.
Bret: How often do you talk with Ohio State coaches?
Ulmer: I talk to (Coach) Zach Smith weekly.
Bret: What is Coach Smith telling you?
Ulmer: They say I could be the next Braxton (Miller) and that the offense is tailor maid for me. I just sent them my mid-season highlight tape. The whole staff is going to watch it, then from there the offer is going to come.
Bret: Do you plan on visiting Ohio State? Do you know when?
Ulmer: Yes. I am going up on November 24th for the Michigan game.
Bret: Why do you personally feel like you can fit in an Urban Meyer offense?
Ulmer: It’s my style. I run a 4.3 in my forty and its a spread offense. I love passing and running.
Bret: Strengths on the field? What would you like to improve on?
Ulmer: Strengths are running and throwing. I would like to improve on my throwing technique though.
Bret: Obviously its very early, but what teams are standing out the most for you?
Ulmer: Everyone is even as of right now. I am keeping my options open and seeing were God is going to guide me.
Editor’s Note: I would like to thank William Ulmer for his time. I wish him the best on the rest of his High School Football career and throughout the recruiting process.
